A Day With The Rays

Today Nina went to the zoo learn how to take care of the Sting Rays. She learned how to safely touch them, feed them, and check their water. She even got to prepare their food, fish. She ate lunch in the area for "Employees Only" and then got to keep her Zoo name tag and Dog tag necklace. Then she taught us all how to feed them as well. I don't think the smile left her face the whole time she was there. She never was brave enough to let the Rays eat a fish from her hands but she taught me how and boy was it cool!

Gini wasn't too sure about touching them at first but after some time she really had fun. It was a rainy day here but some of the water on Gini came from the Rays splashing her as they swam by!

I think the highlight of Trey's day might have been getting all wet in the rain, splashing in the puddles and holding his umbrella. However, he did stick his hand in to feel the rays without a problem.

We have sting rays at our zoo and we were able to feed them a few months ago and it was such a cool feeling--my girls were surprising brave and all did it!
